by Abhai Sawkar Only my third entry in my blog project, and I cannot be more privileged to successfully have a player interview. A lot of cricket is happening right now: but the series that's just about to kick off is the Zimbabwe tour of Sri Lanka. In fact, the first ODI will begin in just a couple of hours! Zimbabwe has had a pretty roller-coaster 2017, and favorable results in Sri Lanka will surely give the team a confidence boost. Luckily, Zimbabwe batsman Tary Musakanda had some time for a little Q&A session on Facebook and here's what he had to say: First of all, my thanks to Tary for his time. Me: This is your first away series against a Full Member team. How confident do you feel about how it will go for you? Tary: I'm always hyped up against Full Member teams and being in Sri Lanka makes me confident considering I have faced the opposition before. Now it's just in different conditions. Me: How well prepared are you and the team after the Scotland and Netherlands series? Tary: Well, as a team, all the guys are well prepared, combinations and adapting to conditions have been good as well. Also in the Netherlands, it was very hot and that's something we will find in Sri Lanka. As of me, I'm well prepared and ready for the challenges, especially playing spin. Me: You only got a chance to play one of the last five games recently. Is that putting you under lots of pressure to perform? Tary: No, I'm not under any pressure at all. I've been working on my game as much as I can so I am sorted. I'll just wait until I get my chances. Me: The Sri Lanka tour has only one test match, and as a fan, I believe Zimbabwe should be regularly having 3-game test series. Your thoughts? Tary: We all want that, but we are also trying to prepare for the 2019 ICC World Cup qualifiers so I'm sure we will get more Test matches after. Me: And finally, give a quick little shoutout to fans, from home and abroad. Tary: (laughs) Well, I just want to thank every fan who's behind Zim Chevrons, we really appreciate it and we will do our best. Great, humble words from a relatively new player in the Zimbabwe setup. He's played six ODIs so far, and his entry into the other two formats will be inevitable. Definitely has a bright future, and soon will be a regular feature in the top order. This time around, it's a pretty young side from Zimbabwe facing off a slightly out-of-sorts Sri Lanka side. I cannot be more thrilled to see intriguing match-ups in the 5 ODIs and Test (even though it happens late in the night for me). Most of the faces from the Zimbabwe team in the 2015 World Cup are present in this squad; no one will forget that they nearly took down India. It's the age of youngsters, and it's the age of insurgence and defying the improbable. And as for Sri Lanka, they have quite a few rookies as well; it should and will be an evenly matched contest. Good luck to both sides, and best of luck to Zimbabwe next year in the Qualifying tournament. To quote Kanye, "Work it, make it, do it, makes us harder, better, faster, stronger."
